Facebook has agreed to shut down their advertising system called Beacon to settle a class action suit against them. They also agree to create an independent foundation devoted to promoting online privacy, safety and security.
The suit was filed due to Facebook and affiliates violating a series of laws. The settlement still needs to be approved.
